Tryouts for the national teams in the TRIBES World Championship are going on now! If you want a chance to play alongside some of the BEST players in the world, you better contact the team organizers right away. Taking a look at some of the recruits that the organizers have to choose from, I know it's going to be very hard to choose.
My early pick is the Canadian team. They have some outstanding talent. Although, many European and other teams are made up of people that have been playing together a lot (since they are a smaller community). Teamwork negates talent every time. We'll have to see. The Israeli team doesn't even have their own in-country servers so they are used to playing with high pings. They will be a team to watch out for. On the other hand, the Australians and New Zealanders seem to be super-organized too. Of course, the US teams have a lot of talent, but can they pull together as a team instead of a group of hot dogs?
Matches are due to begin on the 25th! If you want to join this incredible event, find the contact for your country on this page: TWC Team Contact Page.
Tribes2.dk will be posting some photos taken around the Dynamix offices by Rick Overman over the next 15 days. Today's pics include a pic of a workstation that has (if you look closely) what looks like a picture of a Bioderm heavy from T2.
Nicodemus sent in good news for all you mappers out there:
Well, I've made a new mod' of the editor, with help from Dewy (MiniMod), and a bunch of other peeps. It makes it easier to add new buildings to maps, and also adds a bunch of new items to the editor, including mines and crashed vehicles.
Here's a bit we got about a cool little (well, not so little actually) fiction site. Check it out:
Greetings! It is I, Stormer, coming at you with yet another news update
for Stormer's House of Fiction. Since my update a little over a month
ago, we've grown substantially, adding many new writers and stories
since then. :) But we're never too big, so if you are a writer of
fiction from anywhere throughout the world, be sure to come to the page
and Sign Up. The more writers we have, the more interesting the page
will be. As for you fiction readers out there, be sure to stop by and
give the stories a read. I'm sure you won't be disappointed!
Here's a big announcement from NaTeDoGG about the newest release of HaVoC. Admins should think about this mod if only for the lamer torture options available... *evil grin*. Here's the news:
After six months of hard work, HaVoC 1.5 has been completed. HaVoC is a
huge step forward in the world of Tribes mods.
For the admin...
It brings innovative new features to your server allowing you to control
every aspect. Countless server settings
allow you to set everything from how often lightning strikes to controlling
team and base killers. Torture
lame players that would try to ruin your server. Using the server's built in
settings, it can stop lame players from ruining your server even when you
aren't there. HaVoC allows you to create hundreds of customized admin
passwords. You set up what settings on your server that each password allows
access to. And
much, much more.
For the player...
HaVoC has something for every type of player. 9 different armors, remote
control Repair Drones, Smoke Bombs, Tractor Beams, 13 different types of
turrets, and all kinds of toys. Take a look at the inventory on the site. Players can shoot guided
missiles that they pilot themselves. Fly missiles around corners to kill
your enemies. Pick up and re-deploy
any deployable. Get points for
defending your flag carrier or your objectives. HaVoC comes integrated with
TeamDM, Tribes Arena, Flag Hunter, and Rabbit mission types if you ever get
bored with CTF.
But most importantly, HaVoC has balance. No one armor or weapon is all
powerful. Each has its unique uses and weaknesses and they are designed to
be extremely more useful when working with teammates. A team of just a few
good people, working together, can overcome anything.
