Blast Chamber Final
Quake II News | 2/7/2000 | 17:26 PST -
Pappy-R
Tonight sees the final realease for one of the coolest Q2 Mods to come down the pipe, Blast Chamber.
The biggest additions are the two new maps, BCMorden and BCRocks. Also, there are now four different blast effects: Nuke, Shockwave, Napalm, and Poison Gas. In addition, four new powerups are available (Blast Damage, Power Screen, Invisibility, and Fallout). DM and Teamplay are fully working, and all known bugs are squashed.
There will be bug squashing if any show up, but this Mod is considered done and shipped complete. Kind of a sad and happy day all in one. What's this team going to do now? Well you must have heard of Milieu.

Another Op for Level Designers
Community News | 2/7/2000 | 17:05 PST -
Pappy-R
Eric Biessman of Raven Software, and lead on Soldier of Fortune, has just updated his .plan file with another opportunity for mappers. Raven is hiring and this snippet rings home around these parts.

Raven Software is looking for several talented and experienced level designers to join our team.

We are looking for highly motivated, creative and skilled people who have experience with the Quake technology in any form (Heretic 2, Half-Life, Quake 1-3, SiN). The abillity to adapt is a strong plus, and any background in code or scripting will go a long way.

At this time we can only accept applications from people who live inside the continental United States. The position is a full time one and it requires that you move to Madison, WI.
For more info go right to the man's .plan file update

PQ Map Week Kick Off
Community News | 2/7/2000 | 10:34 PST -
Pappy-R
I've been waiting for this for a while now. It's the big kick off for Map Week here at PlanetQuake. My motto is "nothing freshens up a game as quick as a new level" and we're gonna freshen up your Quaking like crazy this week. To kick it all off, we have our first PQ Map Pack submitted by that little tech-monster, Love2Play. Her choice was easy ,and she gives us her fave five Quake 2 Maps for Lithium play. The PQ staff will be giving you their choice Map Packs for all the Quakes and covering some popular play styles all week long. There's going to be plenty more treats as well and you can start to get primed up for the Thursday and Friday night chats we have planned. How would you like to ask what you will of such people as Robert Duffy and Dave "Zoid" Kirsch of id Software. More on that as the time draws near and more surpirises to come this week so stay close, cause you won't want to miss a beat as "the big fuzzy" kicks Map Week into gear.

Quake III Lightning Gun
Quake III Arena News | 2/7/2000 | 7:59 PST -

All those that remember the underwater fun of the Quake 1 lightning gun, raise your hands. Well the House of Hard Havoc remembers, and has made the code for the same effect in Quake III. The code is available for server and client and is open source, so remember where ya got it. For those that are still scratching your heads on what effect I'm talking about, the classic Quake lightning gun, if discharged underwater would kill you and whoever was around.

PQ in Review
Community News | 2/6/2000 | 15:20 PST -
Pappy-R
And now a big round of applause for the PQ in Review by "that guy who's name I won't mention". This is a very cool edition of the PQ in Review and you'll see not only the features you missed but "that guy" also started giving a recap of the new sites to the PQ family. Read this one closely for some very big news about what we have planned next week, and no I won't be going "nekkid" cause the bucks weren't quite there. I'm not too pleased with "that guy that does the PQ in Review", since he keeps hitting us with Questions of the Damned, making Hellchick and I pick just one answer and he wimps out and picks two. So make double sure you check out this week's PQ in Review, even though "that guy" wrote it. :)
